Counsellor Aberdeen

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans..”

— John Lennon

A few words about me and my professional life…

My journey to become a counsellor began fifteen years ago while I worked with vulnerable children for Aberdeen City Council. At the same time, I worked as a youth worker in Aberdeenshire as well as acted as an interpreter for Grampian Police. During these years I learnt a lot, not only about myself but most importantly about human interaction. These experiences started to shape my career.

I work with a range of complex issues such as anxiety, addiction, depression, grief, emotional distress, anger and neurodiversity. My interest lies in working with survivors of trauma, narcissistic abuse, coercive control and domestic abuse. My primary focus is to help clients to rediscover who they are and empower them to regain control of their life without fear.

For the last two years, I have been working with the charity HSTAR-Scotland (Healed Scars Trauma and Abuse Recovery) which provides accessible help for women in Scotland whose lives have been affected by trauma or abuse.

My main qualification is Postgraduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling.

However, I have a broad range of certificates and achievements I accomplished over the years. These include COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate, HNC in Social Care and SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care.

My additional training so far includes:

  • Narcissistic Relationships, Emotional Abuse & Gaslighting

  • Emotional Abusive Behaviors and A Closer Look at Gaslighting: Clinical Tools to Break the Cycle of Manipulation and Regain Personal Power

  • ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

  • Working Beyond Domestic Violence

  • DASH - Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Harassment Risk Assessment and Management

  • Online and Telephone Counselling

  • Emotional-Focused Therapy in Action: Road Map to Emotional Healing

  • A Pluralistic Approach to Therapy

  • Relational Depth in Counselling & Psychotherapy

  • Responding to Self Harm

  • Introductory Course in Child Abuse and Neglect

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit more about me.
